Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's basketball ends regular season at Kentucky State

A big scoring second half by the Kentucky State Thorobreds proved to be enough to get past the Tuskegee University men's basketball team Monday night, falling in Frankfurt, Ky. 83-67.  The Golden Tigers end the regular season with a five game improvement from a season ago.

Leading by two points at halftime, KSU exploded for a 53 point second-half that TU would not recover from. The biggest disparity was the fact that the Thorobreds went to the line 42 times, making 32 free throws. Senior Ditalion Battle was 13-of-14 from the foul line while Kevin Hayes  was 6-of-10 from the charity stripe. KSU converted 16 free throws in each half.

Skegee allowed KSU to go on a 14-2 run early in the second half that created a lead for good. Back-to-back layups and then an assist on a dunk by Austin Sherrell started a rally that was hard to overcome.

Another spurt, this one 12-4, gave Kentucky State its first double figure lead of the game as Battle scored eight of the 12 points. Tuskegee got its deficit down to eight a couple of times, but each time the 'Breds had an answer.

Kaleb Morton led TU with 14 points including 4-of-9 shooting from three point range. Myles Thomas added 10 points.

The Golden Tigers will face #4E Fort Valley State in the first round of the 2019 SIAC Basketball Tournament next Monday at 1 p.m. inside Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham, Ala.
