Myles Thomas scored 23 points to lead all scorers against Miles College Saturday evening, but it would not be enough to get past the Golden Bears inside the Chappie James Center as the Golden Tigers suffered a 65-59 loss. As a result of the defeat, TU has now dropped four straight.
Miles built its biggest first half lead after a Damien Archer layup gave them a 12-5 advantage at the 15:03 mark. With 9;02 left in the first half, Skegee broke open a 20-20 tie when
Kaleb Morton nailed a three pointer, giving the Golden Tigers a 23-20 lead. MC would surge back just before the break to regain its lead at 35-32, which is where the score remained at halftime.
The Golden Bears had a significant advantage in a couple of areas. They outscored TU from the bench 30-14 and points in the paint 26-14
Both teams were tied at 43-43 when TU went on an 8-1 run, creating its biggest lead of the game when
Riley Hamilton's layup gave them 52-44 cushion.
TU made 11 three pointers in the game with Thomas drilling five and Morton added four from beyond the arc. Morton also chipped in 14 points and was the only other player for the Golden Tigers scoring in double figures.
Tuskegee, who now drops to 11-9 overall and 7-5 in the conference will remain off until next Saturday when the host Lane College in a double-header with the women's team that starts at 1 p.m. The game will be carried live on the Tuskegee Digital Network.
