Alexis Carter nearly notched a triple-double and the Tuskegee University women's basketball team won its second straight game with a 57-47 overtime win over Kentucky State Saturday afternoon at the Chappie James Center. Defensively is where TU got things done holding the Thorobreds to 25 percent shooting from the field.

Carter scored a game-high 16 points, eight blocked shots, eight rebounds and four steals. Teammate Jade Wilson added 15 points on the day to go along with five boards. Brooke Wallace led KSU with 10 points while hauling in 15 rebounds. She would be the only player to score in double figures for the Thorobreds.

TU outperformed KSU in three major statistical categories including points off turnovers (16-10), second chance points (11-10) and points in the paint (18-4).

The Golden Tigers led by four points 42-38 with 2:46 left to play, but Kentucky State closed the game out with two free throws and a layup with 40 seconds left by Eric Jones to force over time. 

In overtime, KSU scored first and made one free throw before the Golden Tigers went on an 11-0 run to put away the contest. 

Tuskegee closes out its seven game home stand Monday evening when they host Central State at 5:30 p.m. The game can be seen live on the Tuskegee Digital Network.
