After a 14-day layoff, the Tuskegee University men's basketball team will return to action Wednesday night when they host Shorter University at Booker T. Washington High School in Tuskegee, Ala. Macon County Schools and BTW will allow TU to host the non-conference game at its venue while floor renovations continue inside of Chappie James Arena.
The Golden Tigers enter the mid-week contest winners of six out of their last seven games. The two teams met Dec. 19 before the Holiday Break with TU coming away with a 62-53 win over the Hawk on the road. In that game
Daniel Roach led the team in scoring wth 14 points on the day, but had some help from his teammates from the perimeter as the unit made a total of 10 three-pointers on 45.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc. The Golden Tigers made 45.3 percent of its field goals.
Tuskegee (6-5,3-1) is ranked third in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in scoring defense, allowing 67.7 points per game and first in the league Field Goal Percentage defense having opponents shooting only 37 percent from the field.
Myles Thomas is the team's leading scorer at 15 points per outing, which has him ranked eighth among the leagues scoring leaders. He is also connecting on a blazing 53 percent of his shot attempts and a conference leading 50 percent from beyond three point range.
The Golden Tigers will only host one game at BTW High School before returning back to campus and Chappie James Arena to resume conference play Saturday, Jan 5 against Benedict College with a double-header that gets underway at 1 p.m.
