Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Wilson scores season-high as Golden Tigers rally past Fort Valley State

Jade Wilson scored a season-high 19 points and the Tuskegee University women's basketball team rallied past Fort Valley State in a 51-49 conference clash Saturday afternoon inside Chappie James Arena. The win snapped a two game losing streak for TU.

The tide turned against the Wildcats at the perfect time for Skegee. After falling behind by 10 points at halftime, FVSU saw host TU chip away and outlast its opponent down the stretch

Taking the lead four minutes into the contest and having an advantage of 13 points on two Alicia Franklin foul shots with 3:58 in the first half, the Wildcats (1-9/1-2 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) appeared to have control of the contest. The Golden Tigers (7-3/2-0 SIAC) proved that line of thinking wrong by pulling to within four points at the end of three frames and taking the lead with 5:48 remaining, 42-40. A Franklin banked in long trey retied the game at 49 with 29 tics left before Tuskegee's Jade Wilson dumped in an inside shot with 20 seconds. Nyah Dismukes'potential game-winning 3-pointer with four seconds was off and so went FVSU's win.

Wilson was the only Skegee player in double figures, but the Indianapolis, native also hauled in 10 rebounds. India Blakely added nine points and seven boards.

The contest struggled all day getting into a rhythm as 57 fouls were issued and three players disqualified. Both teams also combined for under 27-percent from the field.

Tuskegee is set to host Albany State Monday night in hopes of remaining undefeated in SIAC play. Tip off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
