Cold first half shooting and turnovers cost the Tuskegee University men's basketball on the road Saturday afternoon at Morehouse College, falling at Forbes Arena in Atlanta, Ga. 73-58. The loss drops the Golden Tigers to 0-4 on the season.
Skegee led 19-18 in the first half with 5:14 left before the break until the Maroon Tigers closed things out with a 15-1 run, capped off by a Xavier Brewer dunk, which gave MHC a 33-19 halftime lead. TU shot 22.2 percent from the field in the first half, connecting on 6-of-27 attempts.
Turnovers also plagued the Golden Tigers as they committed 22 which led to 25 Morehouse points. MHC notched more second half points (16-8) which also led to handing TU its first conference defeat of the season.
The second half was much improved as they were only outscored by one point (40-39). For the first time this season, TU also outscored its opponent from the bench (32-27) and fast break points (6-4).
Gregg Boyd paced TU with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting including two three pointers.
Kaleb Morton and
Myles Thomas both added nine points each.
