In their first meeting since joining the CIAA, the Tuskegee University men's basketball team dropped a 64-51 decision to Claflin University in Orangeburg, S.C. inside Tullis Arena Saturday evening. The losing streak to the Panthers now dates back to the 2013-14 season.
TU was paced by
Riley Hamilton's 11 points and six rebounds and was the only player in double figures for the Golden Tigers.
Daniel Roach scored nine points and pulled down seven boards while
Myles Thomas added eight.
Claflin scored 23 points off turnovers including 13 of those coming in the first half. The Golden Tigers were also outscored from the bench 31-11 and allowed 15 second chance points on the day.
The Golden Tigers only trailed by three points 27-24 at halftime and held its biggest lead (30-27) early in the second half but the Panthers finished the game by outscoring TU by 10 points limiting them to only 3-of-11 shooting from three-point range for 27 percent.
