The Tuskegee University women's basketball team was unable to overcome a slow start in a 59-55 loss at Kentucky State Saturday afternoon in Frankfurt, Kentucky. This marked game one of two in SIAC West Division action over the next three days as the Golden Tigers will play Central State in Wilberforce, Ohio Monday evening.

A Jade Wilson free throw with 2:21 left to play put Tuskegee (2-13, 1-6) within in one point, trailing 53-52, but Kentucky State (5-11, 5-4) would outscore TU 6-3 down the stretch to seal the contest. TU found themselves trailing 20-7 after the first period, but the Golden Tigers would rally within eight points to close out the first half trailing 32-24.

Led by Jade Wilson, last week's SIAC Player of the Week, TU got a 15 point six rebound effort from the junior. Shelle Daniels came off of the bench and poured in 13 points and four rebounds in a reserved role. Lena Yoonis followed close behind scoring a season high 10 points on and efficient 3-of-5 shooting from the field. Ashiala Jackson added nine points and six boards on the afternoon.

TU struggled shooting the ball from three point range only converting on only 2-of-11 attempts from beyond the arc for 18.2 percent.

KSU on the other hand shot 42.3 percent from the field and was led by Khaliah Herbert.

The Golden Tigers will use Sunday as a travel day before squaring off with Central State Monday evening at 4:30 p.m. The game can be seen live via courtesy of CSU Athletics.
