MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Ricky Green helped power the Tuskegee University baseball team to an opening series sweep of Selma University at Paterson Field Friday, winning the first game 11-4 and the second 15-4.
Trey Nelson and
Eugene Mabota finished complete games both only giving up seven runs combined on the day.
Green hit his first homerun of the day to right field in the fifth inning of game one, a two-run shot that put the game out of reach. This wasn't the only action that Green received on the day as he would hit two more homeruns to the same spot in the second game.
The Golden Tigers would continue their dominance for the remainder of the first game that led them to a seven run victory against the Selma University Bulldogs.
The Golden Tigers would follow the same dominance in the second game of the afternoon as the Golden Tigers began a lengthy first inning of baseball. The Golden Tigers managed to lead off with two men on base. Following the early success
Ricky Green capped of the evening with another home run with a three run shot in the same side of the field to put three early runs on the board for the Golden Tigers.
While having the hot bat the Golden Tigers continued to situations for scoring as they would go on to score nine runs in the first inning to make a early mark on the game. Following the success of the second inning the Golden Tigers would score their last six runs of the evening in a very lengthy second inning headlined by
Ricky Green who managed to go yard once more.
The game would proceed to end in five innings and the Golden Tigers picked up win number two on the season in a dominate fashion scoring 15 runs on only nine hits.
With this win the Golden Tigers have won their opening series for the first time since 2015 when they defeated Concordia College at home two years ago. The Golden Tigers next matchup will be on Saturday in Atlanta as they face a conference foe Clark Atlanta University.
