Golden Tigers' season ends at SIAC Tournament

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -   The Golden Tigers' season came to a close in the first round of the SIAC Basketball Tournament against the scoring trio of Martavious Little, Tyrius Walker and Keyshuan Jacobs of Morehouse College, 72-52 on Monday evening.

Tuskegee (8-19, 6-11 SIAC) finished the night shooting 36.7 (18-of-49) percent from the floor and 31.6 (6-of-19) from beyond the arc. They also finished the night shooting 76.5 (13-of-17) percent from the free throw line, and turned the ball over 15 times on Monday night. The Golden Tigers outrebounded Morehouse by a narrow margin of 30-29 on the night.

As the opening round of the SIAC Basketball Tournament began, both the Golden and Maroon Tigers struggled to score in the early stages of the game, but finally after four minutes of play Morehouse got on the board first with a three pointer by Tyrius Walker.

Following the three by Walker, the Golden Tigers took another three minutes to get on the board, as the sophomore James Eads to make it 10-2 with 13:42 remaining.  The Maroon Tigers would continue to have the upper hand in the half  and eventually would stretch their lead to as many as 10 points.

Daniel Roach was the high man for the Golden Tigers with 10 points while shooting 2-of-3 from the field and 4-of-4 from the free throw line.

The hot handed Martravious Little led the Marron Tigers with 12 points as they took a 37-28 lead going into halftime.

The second half was more of the same, as the Marron Tigers continued to pile on the points as they continued to score ; they would finish with 32 points in the paint. Morehouse never looked back as they continued to push their lead to move onto the second round of the SIAC Basketball Tournament

A trio of Golden Tigers finished the night in double figures headlined by James Eads (12), Myles Thomas (10) and Daniel Roach (10)

The Golden Tigers were unable to take the lead in the game and are now eliminated from the tournament. A pair of Golden Tiger Seniors, Elijah McMillian and Joel Nuriddin, have now played the final games of their careers at Tuskegee University.
