Golden Tigers face red hot UAB team Saturday evening

After a 14-day layoff, the Tuskegee University women's basketball team faces a University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) squad that is on a three game winning streak Saturday evening at Bartow Arena in Birmingham, Ala.  
 
With a 2-2 record away from home, the Golden Tigers are out to get above the .500 mark on the road after picking up a 59-51 win over Fort Valley State on Dec. 16.  After losing an 18-point first half lead, Tuskegee (2-9,1-3) held on earning its first Southern Intercollegiate (SIAC) victory of the season along with their second road win.
 
Jade Wilson is the only player on the team averaging double-figures at 13 points per game while hauling in eight rebounds per outing. In her last two games, she's notched double-doubles and is the only player on the team to accomplish such.

Rachael Childress enters Saturday's contest as C-USA's leader in 3-point field goal percentage (46.7 percent) and 3-pointers made per game (3.2) The preseason All-Conference selection has tallied double figures 10 times this season en route to being the team's leading scorer in five contests.
 
Combining to hit a season-high 11 three pointers against South Alabama on Dec. 21, UAB(10-2) ran past the Jaguars 78-66. The Blazers have been strong from long range this season averaging a Conference USA best 40.5 percent. UAB has outshot its opponent from deep 11 times this season and has amassed nine wins when doing so.
 
The two teams last met in an exhibition game with the Blazers winning in Birmingham.  Saturday's tip off is slated for 6:30 p.m. With live stats available via UAB Athletics
