The Tuskegee University men's basketball team outscored Palm Beach Atlantic by eight points (51-43) in the second half, but the Sailfish scored the first 19 points of the contest creating a hole the Golden Tigers would not overcome leading to a 78-69 loss at Rubin Arena located in Palm Beach, Florida.
TU trailed by 26 points (70-44) with 4:38 left to play before closing out the game on a 25-8 run in which Myles Thomas made a pair of three pointers along with James Eads and Travis Flagg making one apiece. Thomas led all scorers with 18 points and five rebounds on 7-of-12 shooting from the field. He was also 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Eads and Flagg added nine points each with Greg Boyd chipping in eight points. Daniel Roach led the team hauling in eight rebounds.
At the 7:43 mark of the first half, Tuskegee (1-10) trailed Palm Beach Atlantic (8-8) 22-1 but would trim the lead down to a 12 point deficit in less than four minutes. After a three pointer with 40 seconds left before the break, Dakota Zinser nailed a three pointer putting the Sailfish back up by 17 points 35-18.
Every player on the PBA roster scored, led by De'Ondre Jackson and Zinser who each scored 11 points apiece. Bakari Watthen was a point shy of a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.
TU scored 25 points off 18 PBA turnovers and also converted on 21 second chance points.
The Golden Tigers will return to action on New Years day when the host Paine College in a double-header that starts at 1 p.m. with women. Live coverage starts at 12:55 p.m. from Chappie James Arena.
