The Tuskegee University men's basketball team allowed Clark Atlanta overcome a 15 point first half deficit Monday night handing the Golden Tigers a 73-58 loss at Chappie James Arena.
The Golden Tigers led by as many as 15 points three times in the first half. But Clark Atlanta (7-1, 2-0 SIAC) outscored Tuskegee (0-7, 0-2 SIAC) 14-2 over the final 4:56 of the half to cut the deficit to 34-31 at halftime.
In the second half, TU only made nine baskets while shooting 29 percent from the field. Offensively, CAU outscored the Golden Tigers 16-0 in the first 6:35 of the half to turn a halftime deficit into a 13-point lead after two Donaldson free throws. That lead grew to as many as 22 points as the Panthers secured the win.
Myles Thomas scored a season high 18 points and six rebounds , James Eads added 15 while Jaylan Shelton chipped in 13 points for Tuskegee.
Austin Donaldson finished with 19 points – 11 of them in the second half – ten rebounds, four steals and four assists. Damien Davis had 17 points, nine rebounds and two assists, while Jamal Pollydore had 12 points, three assists, two steals, and two rebounds. Akil Douglas scored all 11 of his points in the second half and had five rebounds, an assist, and a block.
The Golden Tigers will host Spring Hill College Saturday in a double-header that starts at 1 p.m.
