MONTGOMERY | A three-run second inning gave Paine College an insurmountable lead as they defeated Tuskegee University 10-1 in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) game at Paterson Field Saturday evening.
Tuskegee (10-26, 6-12) was held to just six hits by Paine pitchers Evan Krenz and Zach Radar, with the lone run of the game coming on a solo homerun by
Ricky Green in the first inning, his second of the season.
Five other players each had a hit a piece for Tuskegee in the loss.
Trey Nelson (3-4) suffered the loss in a six-inning effort for the Golden Tigers. He allowed five runs – four earned – off of eight hits with three strikeouts.
The two teams will meet in a doubleheader on Sunday to end the series on Senior Weekend beginning at 12 noon.
