TUSKEGEE, Ala. | The Tuskegee University basketball programs will look to end three-game losing streaks on both sides as they hit the road to face Stillman College for the final time on the road as a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), as Stillman will move down to NAIA following this season.
The women will tip at 1 pm, with the men tipping at 3 pm at Birthright Gymnasium in homecoming for Stillman.
The Tuskegee (3-15, 2-9 SIAC) women look to rebound from a home loss to Miles, and are in search of their first road win of the season. The Tigerettes have been led in scoring all season by junior
Rachel Brownlee at 16.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, while freshman
Aryana Jackson is averaging 15.1 points per game in eight games this season.
Brownlee and Jackson continue to score in double figures for the Tigerettes, both with consecutive streaks this season. Brownlee is in the midst of a 16 game streak of scoring in double figures, and has scored in double figures in 18 of 19 games this season. Meanwhile, Jackson has scored in double figures in six of eight games this season for Tuskegee, although she had her streak of six consecutive games snapped against Miles on Monday.
Senior forward
Halle Bentley has been grabbing rebounds at a record pace since the turn of the year. The senior has recorded four games in double figure rebounds, which include a pair of 12 rebound games and setting a new career-high with 13 against Albany State (1/30/16) and matching that effort against Miles on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Tuskegee (10-9, 6-6 SIAC) men are in the midst of a tight West Division race led by Stillman with just six conference games remaining.
Freshman
James Eads leads the Golden Tigers in scoring at 12.3 points, while senior
Camden Foster - who is closing in on 1,000 career points - is averaging 11.4 points and a team-leading 6.7 rebounds per game.
Elijah McMillan, who has recorded three 20-point games since the new year including a career-high 28 against Fort Valley State, is averaging 9.9 points and is second on the team in rebounding at 6.0 rebounds per game. Senior
Kevin May leads the team in assists as he closes in on 400 career assists. He has recorded 90 assists thus far this season, averaging 4.7 assists per game.
Freshman center
Joshua Culver had a career night in the last game for the Golden Tigers, posting career highs in points (18) and rebounds (10) against Miles on Monday night. The freshman leads the team with 13 blocked shots, and has two buzzer-beating shots this season.
The Golden Tigers are ranked among the conference leaders and in the nation in scoring defense, as they allow just 65.2 points per game and hold their opponents to just 41.6 (397-of-954) percent shooting from the floor. They also hold their opponents to just 30.2 (77-of-255) percent shooting from beyond the arc.
