HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The University of Alabama-Huntsville scored a pair of runs in the third inning to pull away and defeat Tuskegee University 4-1 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.
Tuskegee (2-3) was held to three hits by a pair of UAH pitchers, while starter Will Adams (2-0) went six innings of no-hit ball while allowing one run. Taylor Clemons came out of the bullpen to work three innings, allowing three hits.
Trey Nelson (0-1) suffered the loss for the Golden Tigers, working 5.1 innings and allowing three runs (all earned), while striking out six.
Desmond Jones came on in relief in the sixth, working 0.2 innings of no-hit ball; while
Eugene Mabota worked the final two innings, giving up one run off of three hits.
Ricky Green,
Alexander Henderson and
Gemini Jackson each picked up a hit for Tuskegee; while Tanner Gardner went 3-for-4 for the Chargers.
The Chargers were able to get a pair of runs in the third, one in the fourth and an insurance run in the eighth inning for the win.
The two teams will meet tomorrow in doubleheader beginning at 12 noon. The Golden Tigers will give the ball to
Christopher Emerson in game, and
Joseph Mauldin in game two.
