Tuskegee falls to Montevallo

Golden Tigers played without leading scorer James Eads

TUSKEGEE, Ala. | Already down two starters just three games into the season, they were down another on Tuesday night as James Eads sat out with an undisclosed injury as Tuskegee University fell to the University of Montevallo 67-58.

Tuskegee (0-4) turned to Travis Flagg and Austin Cherry offensively with Eads out, as the duo combined for 36 points on the night. Flagg poured in a career-high 19 points and four rebounds, while Cherry added s season-high 17 in the loss. Tuskegee shot just 36.2 (17-of-47) percent from the floor, and just 25 (3-of-12) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 77.8 (21-of-27) percent from the floor.

Jamaar Taylor led Montevallo (4-1) with 19 points with five rebounds, including 11-of-12 from the free throw line. Kevin Kelly added 17 (8-of-8 from the free throw line), while Javonte Douglas added 16 points and five rebounds.

Montevallo shot 37.5 (18-of-48) percent from the floor and 31.3 (5-of-16) percent from beyond the arc.

Tuskegee returns to action Friday in the Florida Tech Thanksgiving Tournament in Melbourne against William Jewell.
