TUSKEGEE, Ala. | The Tuskegee University basketball programs will host a pre-Thanksgiving doubleheader at Chappie James Arena on Tuesday night, beginning at 5:30 pm.
The Tuskegee (2-2) women will host Lynn (3-1), followed by the Tuskegee (0-3) men hosting Montevallo (3-1) at 7:30 pm. Both games can be seen on the Tuskegee Digital Network.
Rachel Brownlee leads the Tigerettes into action Tuesday night, averaging 19.3 points per game through four games this season and she has scored in double figures in all four of those game. The senior, the preseason SIAC Player of the Year, extended her double-digit scoring streak to 30 after her performance against West Georgia last Friday. The last time she was held in single digits came against North Alabama in early November 2015.
With her first basket Tuesday night, Brownlee will join an exclusive club at Tuskegee and in women's basketball as she will reach 1,000 career points just five games into her senior year.
Freshman
Taylor Miller enters the non-conference contest averaging 11 points per game, having scored in double figures in three of four games this season. She is joined in double figures by junior transfer
Jamese Abney with 10.3 points game.
Cheyanne Williams leads a trio of players who are averaging at least six rebounds per game, pulling down seven rebounds per game. Freshman
Ashiala Jackson is averaging 6.3 rebounds per game, while Brownlee at at six per game.
On the men's side, sophomore
James Eads leads Tuskegee into action against Montevallo for the second time in a week. In their first meeting, last Tuesday, Eads - a preseason All-SIAC selection - poured in a career-high 31 points per game and had the Golden Tigers on the cusp of winning until Montevallo hit free throws down the stretch to win. He followed that up with 21 against Georgia College and is averaging 19 points per game this season.
Although he is the only player in double figures for the Golden Tigers, junior transfer
Travis Flagg is averaging 7.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game in his first three games for the Golden Tigers. Meanwhile,
Joshua Culver leads five different players who are averaging four rebounds per game, pulling down 6.7 rebounds per game. A trio of players -
Myles Thomas,
Austin Cherry and
Thomas Massey - are averaging 4.3 rebounds per game, while Eads is pulling down four per game.
