TUSKEGEE, Ala. | The Tuskegee University basketball programs will close out a three-game road swing to open the new year in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play on Monday when they hit the court against Paine College at the HEAL Complex.
The Tigerettes will start the night at 5:30 pm (est) against Paine, followed by the men at 7:30 pm (est).
The Tuskegee (1-10, 0-3 SIAC) women look to end a three-game conference losing streak and a nine-game losing streak since November in their final road game before a four-game homestand. The Tigerettes continue to improve over the last three games against two of the best in the East Division and NCAA Division I member Alabama A&M. During that stretch of games, the Tigerettes have shot 31 (54-of-174) percent from the floor and forced their opponents into 46 turnovers.
Junior guard
Rachel Brownlee continues to lead the Tigerettes in scoring, averaging 17.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game through 11 games. She is also averaging 18.7 points and seven rebounds per game in conference play, and she has scored 20 or more points in three consecutive games (four of her last five games). Senior guard
Demetries McNealey is averaging eight points per game through 11 games, while freshman forward
Tyler Everett is coming off the bench averaging 6.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in conference play.
Meanwhile, the Tuskegee (6-5, 2-2 SIAC) men look to bounce back following a loss to Claflin in their last game a week ago Monday. The Golden Tigers are 3-1 this season after a loss, having dropped back-to-back games just one time - Saint Leo (11/27) and Georgia Southwestern (12/1).
The Golden Tigers currently lead the conference in scoring defense, and are fifth in the country at 63.4 points per game this season and Monday's game will be a matchup of tempo as Paine is averaging 84 points per game. Tuskegee averages 61.4 points per game offensively, while Paine allows 86.3 points per game.
Senior guard/forward
Camden Foster continues to lead the Golden Tigers in scoring at 13.5 points and 6.2 points per game through 11 games, while averaging 11.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in conference play. Freshman guard
James Eads is second on the team in scoring at 11.3 points per game, while averaging eight in four conference games.
Senior point guard
Kevin May averages 7.5 points and 4.7 assists on the season, and is second on the team in scoring during conference play at 9.5 points and five assists per game in conference play. Freshman forward
Daniel Roach is averaging seven points per game in conference play after scoring a career-high 18 points against Clafin.
