HOOPS PREVIEW: Tuskegee faces Lane on Thursday, LeMoyne-Owen on Saturday

Four game homestand concludes with games on Saturday

TUSKEGEE, Ala. | The Tuskegee University basketball teams will conclude their four-game homestand this week when they face Lane College (Thursday) and LeMoyne-Owen College (Saturday) inside Chappie James Arena in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play.

The games on Thursday against Lane will tip off with the women at 5:30 pm, followed by the men at 7:30 pm. The games on Saturday against LeMoyne-Owen will tip off at 1:00 pm for the women and 3:00 pm for the men.

The Tuskegee (1-13, 0-6 SIAC) women look to get on track midway through the season, as they find themselves just two games out of fifth place in the SIAC West Division. The Tigerettes trail Stillman, and their two opponents this week - Lane (2-13, 2-5 SIAC) and LeMoyne-Owen (4-11, 2-5 SIAC).

The Tigerettes are led by junior Rachel Brownlee averaging 17.7 points and 6.6 rebounds, including scoring 22 points against Kentucky State in the last game for Tuskegee. She has scored in double figures in 13 of the 14 games this season, with the only exception being at North Alabama (November 19). The junior has scored 20 or more points in five of the last six games for the Tigerettes and is currently at 718 career points - leaving her 282 points shy of 1,000 for her career.

Freshman Aryana Jackson got her first collegiate start alongside Brownlee, and promptly scored 20 points against Kentucky State. Over the last two games, Jackson has 19.5 points per game, and is currently averaging 15.3 points per game for the Tigerettes.

Another new addition to the starting line-up just two games ago, Uche Ibebunjo, responded with one of her better games of the year as she scored six points and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Tuskegee (9-5, 5-2 SIAC) men find themselves in the midst of a three-game winning streak and just one win out of first place in the SIAC West Division. The Golden Tigers are currently in fourth place, percentage points ahead of LeMoyne-Owen (8-9, 5-3 SIAC). They are also one win outside of being tied for the conference lead with three teams, including Lane (10-8, 6-2 SIAC).

The Golden Tigers enter the remainder of the week fresh off a 73-51 victory over Kentucky State in which sophomore forward Elijah McMillan scored a career-high 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the win.

Freshman James Eads, the reigning SIAC Newcomer of the Week, leads the Golden Tigers in scoring at 12.9 points per game, while senior Camden Foster is averaging 12.4 points and a team-leading 6.6 rebounds per game. Senior point guard Kevin May is the hottest Golden Tiger currently, averaging 7.6 points per game and dishing out five assists per game. Over the last five games, May has dished out 33 assists.

Tuskegee continues to be one of the best defenses in the country, as they currently stand fourth in points allowed per game at 62.1. They are also ranked fourth in the country, and second in the SIAC, in three-point field goal percentage defense and 14th in field goal percentage defense.
