AUGUSTA, Ga. | Ashley Watts led three players in double figures for Paine as the Lady Lions defeated Tuskegee 79-59 at the Heal Complex in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) action Monday night.
Kierra Ward led Tuskegee (1-11, 0-4 SIAC) with 15 points off the bench in the loss. The sophomore guard connected 5-of-15 shots from the floor, all three-pointers for the Tigerettes. She was one of two players in double figures for Tuskegee, as junior guard
Rachel Brownlee added 14 in the loss on 7-of-18 shooting from the floor. Brownlee narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds.
Uche Ibebunjo came off the bench to add eight points and seven rebounds in the loss.
Jesslyn Mahone dished out four assists, while Brownlee and
Ashley Johnson each had three assists.
Watts scored a game-high 22 points on 8-of-19 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-8 from beyond the arc. Janish Wilkerson added 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Tierra Boykin added 12 points and Aalyiha Wright chipped in with eight points and 10 rebounds.
Tuskegee shot 30.2 (19-of-63) percent from the floor, including 24 (6-of-25) percent from beyond the arc and 53.6 (15-of-28) percent from the free throw line. The Tigerettes forced 30 turnovers by Paine in the loss.
Tuskegee returns to action Saturday afternoon, returning home for the first time since December 5 when they play host to Central State University at 1:00 pm inside Chappie James Arena.
