Golden Tigers’ Drop Heartbreaker to Maroon Tigers, 55-52

Tuskegee's season ends with a loss to Morehouse in SIAC Basketball tournament.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Men's Basketball) -- The Tuskegee University Golden Tigers season ended on a heartbreaking note as they suffered a 55-52 loss to the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers, in the quarterfinals of the SIAC Basketball Tournament.

The Golden Tigers trailed the Maroon Tigers for most of the game until they hit a scoring streak and scored eight unanswered points to tighten the gap.

With the final minutes ticking down, the game became a basket for basket game until Vladimir Tilme gave the Golden Tigers their first lead in the second half by making a three pointer.  Crucial turnovers made by the Golden Tigers cleared the way for the Maroon Tigers to keep the lead along with Michael Scott's two free throws in the final few seconds to secure the win.

Camden Foster led the way for the Golden Tigers with 23 points. David Alexander followed him with 15 points and led the team in assists with five. Foster and Tilme each accounted for six rebounds on the night. Graham Olatunji and Foster made their presence known in the middle with two blocks apiece.

Tuskegee finished the game with 31 rebounds, 15 assists, four blocks, and four steals. The team was 34.5 percent from the field, 34.6 percent from the arc, and 37.5 percent from the free throw line.

The Maroon Tigers were led by Michael Scott with 18 points. Tyrius Walker, Robert Askew, and Tyrone Brown attributed eight points each. Morehouse was led in rebounds by Askew with seven. Walker was the assist leader for the team with three. Hall finished the night with three blocks.

Morehouse finished the contest with 43 rebounds, seven assists, and seven blocks. The team was 40 percent from the field, 23.5 percent from the arc, and 55 percent from the free throw line.

The Golden Tigers end the season with an overall record of 15-13 and a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference record of 11-8.
