TUSKEGEE, Ala. | Morehouse College used clutch free throw shooting down the stretch to down Tuskegee University 59-55 in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) matchup at Chappie James Arena Saturday night.
Morehouse (5-1, 1-1 SIAC) hit five of eight free throws down the stretch to pull away from Tuskegee (5-4, 1-1 SIAC) who led by as many as 13 points in the game at 41-28. The game saw seven lead changes and the game was tied four other times on the night.
Camden Foster led the Golden Tigers with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. Although he was the only player in double figures on the night for Tuskegee, a trio of players finished with seven –
Elijah McMillan,
Andrew Jimenez and
James Eads.
Foster also finished the night with seven rebounds and four assists, while
Kevin May added five assists.
Tuskegee ended the night shooting 36.5 (19-of-52) percent from the floor, including shooting 44.4 (8-of-18) percent from beyond the arc. The Golden Tigers hit 60 (9-of-15) percent from the free throw line and forced 10 Morehouse turnovers.
Meanwhile for Morehouse, Javarius Gray led four players in double figures with 14, while Tyrius Walker added 12 in the win. Anthony Farrar added 11 and Tyrone Brown 10 for Morehouse.
The Maroon Tigers shot 37 (20-of-54) percent from the floor, including 28.6 (4-of-14) percent beyond the arc. They also shot 71.4 (15-of-21) percent from the free throw line, while winning the rebounding battle 44-31.
Tuskegee is off until they return for conference play on January 2 in South Carolina.
