Hoops Preview: Tuskegee Hits the Road to open SIAC play Thursday

The women will kick off the action at 5:30, followed by the men at 5:30 pm

TUSKEGEE, Ala. | The Tuskegee University basketball programs will open their conference portion of the schedule Thursday night when they face Spring Hill College at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on the road in Mobile.

The Tuskegee (1-4) women will kick off the action against Spring Hill beginning at 5:30 pm. The Tigerettes come into the game after falling to Georgia College, 60-46, in their last game.

Rachel Brownlee at 13.6 points per game leads Tuskegee in scoring, through five games. She is also leading the team in rebounding at 7.2 rebounds per game. This season, Brownlee is shooting 30 (24-of-80) percent from the floor and has grabbed 36 totals rebounds.

Senior Demetries McNealey is nearly in double figures after her scoring outburst against Georgia College. The senior finished the night with a career-high 21 points and is currently averaging 9.8 points per game.

The duo of Brownlee and McNealey finished the night with 31 of the 46 points scored by the Tigerettes against Georgia College.

The meeting between Tuskegee and Spring Hill will be the third all-time between the schools since Spring Hill joined the ranks of Division II. The Badgers won both meetings last season, and despite being in the West Division of the SIAC, this will be the only meeting between the two this season.

Meanwhile, the Tuskegee (4-3) men will look to end a two-game road-losing streak when they play at Spring Hill immediately following the women.

The men are coming off of back-to-back losses to Saint Leo and Georgia Southwestern, in which the two teams shot a combined 93.5 (43-of-46) from the free throw line – including a perfect night (25-of-25) for Saint Leo.

James Eads leads the Golden Tigers at 13.9 points per game, while Camden Foster is averaging 12.7 points per game. Foster also leads the Golden Tigers in rebounding at 6.9 rebound per game through seven games this season.

Elijah McMillan is at 8.7 points and Kevin May 7.0 points per game, while May continues to lead team in assists at 4.3 assists per game.

This will be the only meeting between the two schools this season, after each won on their opponents' floor last season.
