Golden Tigers Drop Season Opener to Bulldogs of Alabama A & M

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – August 18, 2014 – The heat hung heavier and the atmosphere was solemn as the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University dropped their season opener 30-17 to the Bulldogs of Alabama A & M University.

The Bulldogs landed in the end zone first with a five yard dash by Bryan Brower, the point after by Cea Diaz-Ramon was a successful effort; taking Alabama A & M to a 7-0 with 3:28 remaining in the first quarter.

Tuskegee crowned a three play-67-yard drive at the 1:48 mark with an 87-yard bomber from Justin Nared to Marquel Gardner. The point after by Trevor Wylie was perfectly placed between the uprights to tie the score.  Twenty-seven seconds later, Jaymason Lee completed a 72-yard blistering pass to Octayvia Miles, their point after by Diaz-Ramon was good to take them up 14-7 heading into the second.

The Golden Tigers' Trevor Wylie added three with a 33-yard field goal. One play later, Lee connected with Montauri Smith and he carried it for a 77-yard touchdown.

The Bulldogs scored again when Bryan Brower rushed in on a 4 yarder. The point after went wide left, leaving the score 27-10 heading into the locker room.

Neither team found the end zone or uprights in the third, however both were able to add points in the fourth. Tuskegee's Nared found Michael J. Thornton on a 16-yard strike to bring the Golden Tigers within ten (27-10) at the 7:31 mark.
