TUSKEGEE, Ala. - Tuskegee University made a big announcement in regards to the Turkey Day Classic this upcoming fall.
Tuskegee will be a part of the Turkey Day Classic after being absent since 2012. Tuskegee and Alabama State University will meet for the 104th time, with Tuskegee leading the series with an all time record of 63-33-4.Ā
"We made that decision to go back. It's something that the fans have expressed that they really like and they would like to go back to it. When we play Alabama State, we are stepping outside of our league," Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Willie Slater said.Ā
Tuskegee University opted out of the Turkey Day Classic in 2012 due to playoff conflicts. Tuskegee's most recent participation in the 2012 Turkey Day Classic resulted in a 27-25 victory in the opening game for the Hornets in their new on-campus stadium, which featured a sellout crowd.
"When we play Alabama State, we are stepping outside of our league... They have more depth than we have and it's a tremendous challenge for our guys to play people of that caliber."Ā
"I only know how to prepare one way. We prepare to win every game that we playĀ
Every game is a big game to me."Ā
The remainder of the 2021 schedule is being finalized and will be announced at a later date.
