Three Golden Tigers scored in double digits in an overtime loss against Central State 74-85 in the SIAC rematch in Wilberforce, Ohio.
Ashiala Jackson led the Golden Tigers with 13 points, six rebounds, and two blocks but it was not enough to get the job done. Jackson shot 40 (4-10) percent from the floor.
Tuskegee found success early in the contest, outscoring the Marauders 14-7 in the first quarter. The Golden Tigers were able to score eight of their first 14 points in the paint with the rest coming by way of free throw.
The Golden Tigers saw their biggest lead in the second quarter 20-11 after Tamia Willingham-King driller a three point shot with 5:59 remaining in the first half.
King finished with nine points and two rebounds.
Central State took the lead late in the second quarter with a pair of free throws from Central State's Sandra Guilford with 41 seconds left in the half.
Senior Lena Yoonis scored to give Tuskegee the lead back 28-27 with 13 seconds in the second quarter. Central State tied the score 28-28 to end the first half.
The Marauders came out in the second half gaining a 40-33 lead over the Golden Tigers with 5:50 to play in the third quarter.
Later in the quarter Tuskegee was able to regain the lead after Sharai Lay connected from three to give the Golden Tigers a 47-46 lead. Central State outshot Tuskegee in the second half 44.4 (12-27) percent to 36.1 (13-36) percent respectively.
The fourth quarter started with the Marauders taking the lead after a layup by Central State's Takyra Gilbert 48-47.
Normesha Pitts brought the Golden Tigers within one and on the ensuing possession gave Tuskegee the lead with 7:41 with a pair of free throws 51-50.
Pitts finished the night with 12 points and six rebounds.
India Blakely finished in double digits helping her team in the second half, finishing with 11 points, eight points, and five assists
The Golden Tigers held the lead for six minutes until Gilbert tied the ball game at 62 with 42 seconds left. Central State then proceeded to go up by two until a clutch layup by Shelle Daniels tied the game with eight seconds left 64 even.
The Golden Tigers scored first in overtime from a layup by Lay but fell short of the victory.
This game featured 11 lead changes. Tuskegee was able to out-rebound Central State 64 to 48 respectively.
Tuskegee moves to 13-10 (9-5 SIAC) Tuskegee will host Lane College in a double-header Senior Night on February 17th. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m CST.
