A total of 44 current and former Tuskegee University student-athletes will graduate as part of the institution's 2019 graduating class Saturday morning. The graduates represent 12 of university's sports programs.
Saturday marks the 134th Spring Commencement Exercise at Tuskegee, the university will award over 500 degrees including those that will be obtaining doctoral, bachelor's and master's degrees. The ceremony starts at 10 a.m. in the Gen. Daniel "Chappie" James Arena and will feature guest speaker Loretta Lynch, 83rd U.S. Attorney General and the nation's first female African-American to hold the position.
The highlight for the department of athletics will be witnessing former NFL veteran and Golden Tiger and Ken Woodard receive his degree. Woodard played at TU from 1978-82 and became the first Tuskegee player to compete in a Super Bowl when he made an appearance in Super Bowl XXI against the New York Giants in Pasadena.
