Alexis Carter scored 27 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and the Tuskegee University women's basketball team pulled off a 72-69 overtime win over Central State Monday night at the Chappie James Center. It would mark the second consecutive overtime victory for TU while in the midst of a three-game winning streak.
The Golden Tigers were outscored in every period with the exception of the fourth, when they held a 21-6 advantage. The Marauders held its biggest lead with 2:18 left before halftime when they found themselves ahead by 12 points. TU would put together a run to close out the half, narrowing the deficit to only five points, 31-26 at the break.
Skegee was outscored off the bench (22-4), but had more second chance points (11-9) than CSU.
Shelle Daniels notched her second double-double of the season with a 15 point 14 rebound effort.
Normesha Pitts added 12 points including two three pointers on the evening.
India Blakely and
Jade Wilson each chipped seven points while Blakely dished out seven assists.
Carter's double-double marks the seventh one of the season for her through 11 games.
