Golden Tigers unable to avoid complete sweep at Miles

The Tuskegee University baseball team dropped the final two games of its series with Miles College Saturday afternoon from Pleasant Grove. The Golden Bears came away with a big first inning securing a 9-3 win in game one while halting the Golden Tigers' late inning rally in game two, defeating TU 4-1.

In the first game, five batters for Tuskegee posted a hit, but the Golden Tigers also left eight runners on base. Ryan Green posted multiple hits going 2-of-3, Elgin Woodside earned a pair of RBI while Keldric Burton, Jalen Luter and Ronald McGhee each scored a run.

TU scored its first run when Shaw doubled to left field, bringing in Luter. One inning later, Woodside also doubled to left allowing Burton to score while Mcghee touched home plate with an unearned run. The Golden Bears added an additional run to round out the scoring.

Trey Nelson fell to 1-7 on the season. He allowed eight runs on 11 hits and struck out one batter.

In game two, Miles jumped out to a 4-0 lead after scoring two runs in the second inning and a pair in the fifth.  TU's only run came when Gabriel Selochan reached on an error by the third base, which would lead to Dominic Johnson scoring.

Jordyn Thomas pitched 4.1 innings for the Golden Tigers and allowed four runs on six hits to go along with six strike outs. His record dropped to 2-4 on the season.

Tuskegee travels to Huntsville to face the University of Alabama-Huntsville on April 3. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
