NCAA Rules and RegulationsWho is a "Representative of Athletic Interests?"A "representative of the institution's athletics interest" (i.e., athletic supporter/ booster) is anyone who engages in any of the following activities:
- participating as a member in any of the various Athletic Department booster groups or Alumni Groups.
- making a donation to Tuskegee Athletics or an institutional booster club.
- arranging for summer or vacation employment for student-athletes.
- purchasing season tickets in any sport.
- assisting in the recruitment of prospects.
- promoting Tuskegee Athletics in any manner.
According to NCAA rules, once an individual has been identified as an institutional "representative of athletics interests" the individual retains that title for life. Tuskegee University is ultimately responsible for the acts of all "representatives of athletics interests" in relation to NCAA rules and regulations.
NCAA Rules and RegulationsRules to Know (Do's and Do not's)DO'S- Participate in the local athletic booster club.
- Speak to a prospect via telephone only if the prospect initiates the conversation and it is not for recruiting purposes.
- Provide coaches with names of prospective student-athletes.
- Contact with a prospect regarding summer employment arrangements that occurs subsequent to the prospect signing the National Letter of Intent.Â
- Report any possible violations of NCAA rules and regulations to the Tuskegee compliance office.
DO NOT'S- Do not contact a prospect, member of a prospect's family or coach by letter, telephone or in person for purposes of soliciting participating in Tuskegee athletics.
- Do not provide employment to a student-athlete without first checking with the Tuskegee compliance office.
- Do not use the name or picture of an enrolled student-athlete to advertise, recommend or promote the sale or use of a commercial product or service.Â
- Do not provide any special arrangement (e.g., gifts, reduced housing, use of an automobile, etc.) to a prospect or a student-athlete.
- Do not do anything for prospective or enrolled student-athletes without specific authorization from Tuskegee athletics
