Tuskegee University freshman Darius Holmes was named co-Freshman of the Year on a vote of the coaches and sports information directors from around the conference.

Holmes is third on the team in interceptions with three this season. The redshirt freshman has recorded 24 total tackles, including 14 solo this season. He has started every game this season, and has 3.5 tackles for loss. Holmes also has four pass breakups this season. He was named the BoxToRow National Player of the Week after picking off a pair of passes in a victory over Morehouse. He is currently 85th in the country in interceptions per game.
