The 5-7 sophomore got a chance to return one punt and one kickoff in the 49-20 victory over Stillman on Saturday. He returned his only kickoff return opportunity 83 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter that extended the Golden Tigers lead to 49-13 at the time, and answered a score by Stillman that trimmed the lead to 30.

It is the first award for Gaines this season, and the sixth such award this season - including second special teams award - for the Golden Tigers. Gaines was a Second Team All-SIAC returner last season, and a preseason pick this season.
