Four Golden Tigers Earn All-American Honors

Jewell Ratliff, Dennis Norfleet, Michael Robinson and Marquel Gardner earn honors

NEW YORK | Four members of the Tuskegee University football team were honored by USA College Football as they were named 2015 USA College Football Division II All-Americans.
 
Senior linebacker Jewell Ratliff was named to the USA College Football All-American First Team; while senior running back Dennis Norfleet, senior defensive back Michael Robinson and senior receiver Marquel Gardner were all named to the USA College Football All-American Second Team.
 
Ratliff, a New Orleans native led the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) in total tackles with 148 while being named the SIAC Player (overall) and Defensive Player of the Year this season. The senior finished with 70 solo tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss (51 yards lost) and 3.5 sacks (13 yards lost). He also finished the year with three pass break-ups, one quarterback hurry and two forced fumbles.
 
Ratliff finished second on the team in interceptions with five, returning a pair of those for touchdowns. He also scored a touchdown on a blocked field goal against Albany State, and had two other touchdowns called back.
 
The award was the fifth All-American honor for Ratliff this season as it joins a list that includes being named an AFCA All-American, D2CCA All-American, BOXTOROW All-American and AP Little All-American.
 
Norfleet earned Second Team honors after leading Tuskegee in rushing and all-purpose yards. The senior finished the year with 839 (761 net) rushing yards on 120 carries, including a pair of 100-yard games down the stretch for the Golden Tigers. He averaged 69.18 yards per game on the ground, scoring four touchdowns. He also caught 12 passes for 180 yards, all while leading the Golden Tigers in all-purpose yards.
 
Gardner led Tuskegee in receiving this season with 25 receptions for 414 yards. He averaged 16.56 yards per reception, and caught five touchdowns. The senior recorded his 100th career reception during the season, and went over 2000 yards for his career.
 
Robinson earned his first All-American nod this season, finishing fourth on the team in tackles with 62 – including 36 solo stops from his safety position. The senior recorded 0.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, five pass breakups and a forced fumble. He also returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown against Kentucky State.
